Couples FAQ

Couples Frequently Asked Questions

Can you describe your couples photoshoots?
You and your partner taking a romantic stroll through the city that I capture with beautiful photography. We go to gorgeous locations, find soft, flattering light. I help set the stage then capture the natural chemistry between you as a couple. Relax, have fun and enjoy being models. My goal is to create a timeless set of relaxed, natural looking images that have a distinct feel of 'Paris' about them.

How much will you pose us during the shoot?
I will give tips before the shoot and subtly pose and direct you throughout. I will however also encourage you to be yourselves, capturing those natural moments.

How long do the shoots last?
I offer collections between 1 & 4 hours. Obviously the more time we have the more varied set of images we can produce. If time is limited the 1 hour collection will produce a surprisingly diverse set of images from a single location and the surrounding area. The 4 hour collection gives us a relaxed morning or afternoon exploring Paris with an optional stop in a photogenic café/brasserie to rest our feet & grab a drink. In the summer months (June/July/August) we can even take a trip out to Versailles for some images in the stunning surroundings of the chateau. If you feel you would prefer a longer shoot just let me know and I can work out a collection specific to your requirements.

What should we wear?
For 2.5 & 4 hours shoots clients often bring a change of clothes. One smart but casual complimented by something a little more dressy. Do tend to dress on the same scale & try and compliment each other. Something with a little 'pop' always photographs well and helps you stand out, however dark colours are slimming. If the weather allows, a light chiffon dress can look beautiful for two reasons, one it can add a nice sense of movement in even the lightest breeze and secondly it can also look extremely attractive in back light. Something very important is pay attention to details, are the clothes you've both chosen well fitting? Is that shirt & dress perfectly ironed? Are the shoes polished? The tiny details can make all the difference. Finally whilst looking as stylish as possible is of importance do think about comfort. Paris can get bitterly cold in the winter and very hot in the summer. I do highly recommend a second pair of shoes, one comfortable for walking (as that's how we will mostly be getting around) with another pair for the photos. Whilst on the subject of shoes Paris can get very dusty in the dry summer months. This shows particularly on black shoes. A cloth to give them an occasional wipe will come in extremely handy.

Can you help in finding someone to do my hair and make-up for the shoot?
I sure can and it's something I highly recommend. I work together with some of the best talent in the city and will pass on their contact details if required. There's nothing like being pampered by a hair and make-up artist before your shoot. It helps you both look & feel your best for the photos. Please note that hair & make-up isn't included in my package. This is an additional service and needs to be organised directly with the hair and make-up artist.

Where exactly will we be going for the shoot?
I work within the very centre of the city (with the occasional visit to Versailles). I don't work to a fixed itinerary. I'm constantly overcoming obstacles, exploring and looking for new locations. I know lots of 'hidden' sides of the city and of course we'll take in some of the more famous Paris landmarks. If you have somewhere in Paris that is special to you for any reason we can try and incorporate that into the shoot if it's practical.

What should we bring along with us?
My advice is do not bring anything with you that you can't afford to loose. Whilst none of my clients have ever had any problems with items going missing on a shoot, like any big city, bags can and do get stolen.

What time do we shoot?
For 1 hour shoots I generally work mid afternoon using a careful choice of locations to avoid harsh unflattering sunlight. For 2.5 hour & 4 hour shoots in summer I prefer early morning (sunrise) or late afternoon/early evening aiming to capture the softer light. Please be aware that sunset in Paris during the summer can be as late 10:30pm. In the winter I prefer to shoot mid afternoon for 2 reasons. Firstly it's less cold, secondly most people are at work so it makes it easier to get the nice, clean, people free shots you see throughout my portfolio.

How do we get around?
Mostly walking (which is why I recommend a second, comfortable pair of shoes) with the occasional taxi ride. Please note taxi fares are not covered in the cost of my collections and you should ensure you have cash (generally no more than €20) to cover their costs.

What if it rains?
Many of the locations I use are 'shower friendly' therefore light, intermittent rain isn't really a problem. In fact, it can add great mood to the photos. Be sure to bring a photogenic umbrella if it looks like there may be a chance of showers. If it's heavy, persistent rain we will try our best to re-schedule the shoot for a more weather friendly day.

How soon can we see our images?
In the winter months I can sometimes have your images processed and delivered within 2 weeks of the photoshoot. In summer when I'm also kept busy with weddings delivery is more likely to be 4-6 weeks.

How do you deliver the images and what format are they?
Image delivery is via your private proofing site. The digital images are hi-resolution, non watermarked files for which you have full rights for personal usage (albums, prints, social media etc).

Do you do a lot of photoshop retouching work on your images?
My philosophy is to get everything as perfect as possible in camera. My delivered images are individually processed files that give them the look you see throughout my site, however it's very seldom that I bring an image into photoshop to 'fix' something.

Do you provide colour, b&w images?
I work predominantly in colour with a handful of images in black & white. Occasionally clients ask for me to work solely in black and white which is absolutely no problem.

Can you offer prints or an album of our shoot?
Yes, I'm a big advocate of having your favorite images beautifully printed. Each session has its own private proofing gallery. From here you can order prints in a variety of sizes. If you require a print at a special size to fit that beautiful old frame you have, just let me know and I'll make it work. The prints are of the highest standard, produced by a professional lab. I also offer stylish boxed, coffee table books for your Paris photos with prices beginning at €120.
